Description

"Since the launch of the Jaguar E-Type in 1961 it has received many accolades supporting its legendary design and power. As with all motorcars that underwent progressive design and improvement, the Series II E-Type benefitted from open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned and larger front indicators, taillights below the bumpers and more comfortable seats. Standard Series II upgrades also included uprated brakes and twin electric fans enabling better cooling. Interior changes included a collapsible steering column and rocker switches in place of the earlier toggles. Like the late Series I½ cars, the engine is easily identified by the change from polished to ribbed cam covers and whilst the US specification cars were detuned with twin Strombergs and larger valve clearances, the UK cars retained triple SU carburettors and the much tighter valve clearances as fitted to this vehicle. These changes would remain in effect until the Series II production ceased in 1971. A total of 18,809 Series II cars were manufactured by Jaguar, of which only 775 were built in the ‘Roadster' body style and righthand drive configuration.
Originally registered on 21st November 1969, this delightful righthand drive E-Type has been owned by the fastidious vendor for the last 13 years. He has invested significant sums and time to ensure this Jaguar presents in very good order throughout. The car now benefits from electronic ignition, unleaded fuel conversion and a new roof. The Signal Red coachwork is in very good order as is the contrasting cream leather interior. A matching numbers example, this Series II roadster sits proudly on chrome wire wheels, shod with white wall tyres. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a collection of invoices together with a number of previous MoT test certificates, this 4.2 litre Series II E-Type is a sure way to enjoy the summer ahead."
