Introduced in 1934, the Traction Avant is considered one of the mythical cars of the 20th century. Designed by a genius Italian sculptor Flaminio Bertoni, it owes its genesis to an audacious industrialist, André Citroën, who will bet everything on it and ruin himself at its creation. In addition to the front drive wheels, it will also offer an all-steel body without a chassis and many technical innovations. It will become a true national symbol during its 27-year career. 80 years later and at the dawn of the brand's 100th anniversary, Citroën's enthusiasts and collectors have never been so numerous.
The Traction 11B presented here is one of the last series manufactured, just as the DS 19's career begins. This one is black with a beige fabric interior. It was bought in 1957 by the current owner's great uncle when the car was only one year old. He, the general controller of finance, regularly used his car to go back and forth from Paris to Lyon until 1964, when the car was stored in the family garage. At the beginning of the 2000s, traction was rediscovered and restarted without any particular problems. All mechanical components are revised, as well as the brakes. It is regularly used on sunny days and will even participate in a rally in Corsica in 2015. Today it totals a little over 120,000 km on the clock and the history is complete. During a road test, it is easy to quickly feel a worn Traction, but in our case, the driving was smooth and pleasant. The clutch is easy and the gearbox is precise. We'd go to the end of the world in an 11B! It is ready to go on the road with an up-to-date roadworthiness test. It would be a pity to repaint it, as a Traction with its original patina is the testimony of its time.

This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
