Description

"The MGB was launched in May 1962 to replace the MGA. Introduced as a four-cylinder roadster, a coupé with 2+2 seating was added in 1965 with production continuing until October 1980. The MGB GT sported a ground-breaking design by Pininfarina with the launch of its sporty 'hatchback' style. By combining the sloping rear window with the rear deck lid, the GT offered the utility of a hatchback while retaining the style and shape of a coupé. Acceleration of the GT was slightly slower than that of the Roadster due to its increased weight.
Originally registered on 9th August 1971 this MGB has recently been the subject of an extensive restoration. The body was stripped back to bare metal and new wings, door-skins and sills were fitted. The underside appeared solid although it was thoroughly cleaned and re-undersealed. Mechanically she has had a lot of work carried out including new brake shoes, wheel cylinders and handbrake cables. The front suspension was stripped, sand blasted and powder coated, all the steering joints and bushes were replaced. The engine appeared fine although the carburettors have been reconditioned, radiator overhauled and a new exhaust system fitted. Invoices and photographic evidence is available to confirm the extent of the work carried out. Supplied with a V5C registration document and a MoT test certificate valid until July 2020 this MGB GT is a very well sorted example."
