Description

"The original Porsche 911 was introduced in Autumn 1963 and manufactured until 1989. It was succeeded by a modified version, internally referred to as Porsche 964, but still sold as the Porsche 911, as are current models. Mechanically, the 911 was notable for being rear engine and air cooled and, from its inception, was modified both by private teams and the factory itself for racing, rallying and other types of competition. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included; namely the powerful 911 derived 935 which won the 24 Hours Le Mans and other major sports car races outright against prototypes. The 911 T was the first Porsche to receive the new Bosch K-Jetronic or CIS engine (continuous injection system) from January 1973 onwards. Often referred to as 1973 1/2, these T models produced 140bhp and also boasted the newer type standard H pattern (915) gearbox which, in tandem, provided a smooth yet powerful engine and proved great fun to drive.
This matching numbers example was originally delivered new to Kauai in Hawaii in 1973 which is verified by the Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche, Great Britain and Certificate of Title. Presented in its original colour of Gemini metallic with black Recaro seats and newly upholstered tartan inserts, this 911T was specified with optional alloy wheels, comfort package and coloured windows from new. The original 2.4 litre flat six engine, with original five speed 915 gearbox has only covered approximately 950 miles since an engine rebuild at a Porsche specialist.
Imported from America to the Netherlands in 2014, the car had a full engine rebuild and light restoration work undertaken, photographs of which can be found in the history file. It was then imported to the UK where further restoration works have been completed including the interior, suspension, headliner, rubbers and seals, restored dials, lights, oil system and brakes to mention but a few. Presenting today very well throughout, this example is offered with owner's manual, an MoT test certificate valid until August 2019, V5C registration document and Porsche GB folder full of extensive documentation and bills.
This car has been carefully maintained and improved over the years, to a point where it can either be enjoyed in this fabulous condition, or taken further to reach a very high standard indeed. A wonderful example of a very collectable period Porsche 911."
