Description

"Pininfarina was the genius behind this front-engined masterpiece. The design was derived from the almost identical looking 365 GT4 2+2 (which itself was based on the famous Daytona). Production began in 1976, when Ferrari revealed its first car fitted with an automatic transmission, the 400, at the Paris Motor show of 1976. The GT version however took advantage of a five-speed all synchromesh transmission. Although the incorporation of an automatic transmission and U.S. emissions compliance, indicate it may have been designed for the American market, no version of the 400 series were ever officially imported to the USA. The interior was lavishly appointed with rich leather, high end carpets and ample legroom. The fuel injection version followed with Bosch K-Jetronic under the bonnet. Today, its sleek Pininfarina designed lines and relatively limited production numbers certainly give it classic status.
Originally registered on 25th May 1984, this Ferrari is a delightful example and one that has been well looked after. The metallic Grigio Silverstone paintwork is to a very good standard and the cream soft leather trim has a delightful patina. The vendor has ensured this Ferrari is correctly stored when not in use and has decided the time has come for this 400i to find a new home. Supplied with a leather bound file which includes Ferrari handbooks, the history file of this 400i contains a V5C registration document, an MoT test certificate valid until 19th October 2019 and numerous invoices from Maranello and recognised specialists. NVS Hypercars carried out a circa £2,000 service which included a new MSD ignition, the current vendor has invested significant sums to ensure this Ferrari presents in good condition. In recent years, the 400 series Ferrari's have increased in value as the market has come to realise what an underrated car the Ferrari 400i is."
