Description

"The Series II Jaguar E-Type is identified by open headlights without glass covers, a wrap-around rear bumper, re-positioned larger front indicators and tail lights below the bumpers. Better cooling aided by an enlarged ‘mouth’ with twin electric fans and uprated brakes are also hallmarks of Series II cars. With triple SU carburettors in the UK and the much tighter valve clearances, the engine is easily identified visually by the change from smooth polished cam covers to a more industrial ‘ribbed’ appearance. Late Series I½ cars also had ribbed cam covers. The interior and dashboard were also redesigned, with toggle switches being substituted for rocker switches. The dashboard switches also lost their symmetrical layout. New seats were fitted, which purists claim lacked the style of the originals but were certainly more comfortable. Air conditioning and power steering were available as factory options.
Originally registered in Atlanta, Georgia the second owner purchased the car in March 1977. The car was subsequently sold again to its third owner in 1989; he kept the car for more than 20 years. During his stewardship, the car underwent a restoration project, at the same time triple SU carburettors were fitted, US specification Series II cars were fitted with twin Stromberg carburettors as standard. Supplied with this lefthand drive E-Type is a substantial amount of history, spare parts, tool roll, hammer, jack and knock off spanner. Sitting proudly on wire wheels, this low ownership Jaguar is finished in Signal Red with black interior and is UK registered. An ideal car to enjoy the summer months ahead."
