The 2017 Silverstone Classic is set to be a golden event

As the world’s largest classic motor racing festival rapturously returns for another year, here’s what you can expect on and off the track at the 2017 Silverstone Classic…

Best of British

With more than 1,000 entries competing in a 22-race programme, along with more than 10,000 classic cars on display and legions of dedicated fans, this year’s Silverstone Classic will be one not to miss. From 28 to 30 July, the sights and sounds of racing legends battling it out, from historic Formula One cars to pre-War sports cars, will sure be a sight to behold, with notable entries including a pair of Maserati 250Fs and the ex-Nigel Mansell Williams FW14B, amongst myriad marvellous machinery. Saturday will see the 25th birthday of the Jaguar XJ220 celebrated in fine style, with record numbers of the superstar supercar parading around the track, and the McLaren Owners’ Club will show over 120 road cars — the largest gathering ever — to commemorate what would have been Bruce McLaren’s 80th birthday. Classic Driver will be on the ground throughout the weekend, capturing the magic that makes this event a highlight of the racing calendar…
