Description

Launched at the 1984 Paris Auto Show, the Testarossa revived a famous Ferrari moniker from the 1950s and, at the same time, pointed toward the future of supercar design. Now regarded as an undisputed icon of its era, the Pininfarina-styled Testarossa featured distinctive side strakes and, with a 390 hp flat-12 engine, was capable of speeds in excess of 180 mph. Between 1985 and 1991, 7,200 examples were built, making the Testarossa Ferrari’s most successful 12-cylinder model to date.

The car on offer is an original US-market example finished in a sensational, era-evoking color scheme of white with bright red leather interior. Built in May 1986, this Testarossa possesses the famous driver’s-side “flying mirror” and center-lock alloy wheels – desirable features that were replaced with more conventional equipment early in the model’s production run.

Originally retailed through Shelton Ferrari in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, this beautifully presented Testarossa shows less than 8,500 miles from new. The car’s superior condition was confirmed at the Ferrari Club of America Annual Meet in June 2014, where it was exhibited by respected marque specialist Greg Jones and received a prestigious Platinum Award. Offered today from a true Ferrari enthusiast, accompanied by its original handbooks and tool kit, this highly sought-after “flying mirror” Testarossa is a 1980s time capsule that perfectly showcases the purity of the original Pininfarina design.
