Owing to its extreme rarity, the Arnolt-Bristol is a relatively unknown classic, which is sad because we reckon it’s one of the finest looking 1950s roadsters out there. Fortunately though, this means prices have yet to explode like many of its (predominantly Italian) contemporaries. This example was bought new by a Kansas oil magnate, who promptly replaced the Bristol engine with the thunderous V8 from a Corvette. With period competition history in the West Coast SCCA series, it’s estimated to fetch 275,000-325,000 US dollars.
Of the other 70 cars offered at Indianapolis, we particularly like the matching-numbers Porsche 911T, complete with metallic gold paintwork and a ski-rack (est. 75,000-95,000 dollars), the immaculate British Racing Green Jaguar E-type Series 1 (110,000-145,000 dollars) and the delectable – and wonderfully patinated – 1973 Fiat 500, which is expected to garner 14,000-18,000 dollars.
