Held in conjunction with The Elegance at Hershey concours d’elegance, The Finest’s 34-lot sale – taking place on 11 June – has been curated especially with the popular American event in mind. As such, a large proportion of the catalogue is dedicated to fabulous pre-War classics, including a jaw-dropping 1927 Bugatti Type 38A Grand Sport (est. 400,000-600,000 US dollars) and a unique 1938 Mercedes-Benz 540 K (950,000-1.3m dollars).
Of the post-War classics offered, we’re taken with two stunning Jaguars – a concours-condition 1963 E-type S1 Roadster OTS (250,000-275,000 dollars) and one of the first production XK120 Fixed-Head Coupés, estimated to fetch 150,000-160,000 dollars. The battle for the most beautiful car in the sale is closely fought, and the Classic Driver office is divided. Some are opting for the Pininfarina-designed 1949 Maserati A6 1500 Coupé in a beguiling shade of dark blue (675,000-700,000 dollars), while others have fallen for the delectable little 1952 Siata Barchetta 300BC Sports Spider by Bertone (350,000-425,000 dollars).
