The Daimler SP250, also commonly called the “catfish,” was built by the British based motorcar manufacturer from 1960 to 1964. Building a two-seater sports car was quite a change from the very large sedans and coupes that Daimler had been making. It is believed that this car was made to enter the competitive American sports car market that Chevrolet and Ford were dominating in the late 1950s. Daimler described this car as “Nimble as a kitten in town traffic, yet the highway is the true domain of the SP250.”
The exterior of this particular SP250 is finished elegantly in Silver Blue Metallic and accented nicely by a tan ever-flex top and excellent chrome work. The car is riding on 48-spoke wire wheels with knock-offs, wrapped in blackwall tires. Under the bonnet is a clean engine bay that presents a 2,548-cc V-8 engine with hemispherical heads, which is producing an estimated 142 horsepower. Backing this powerful engine is a four-speed manual transmission. The tan interior is tailored with pleated upholstery; original Smiths gauges and a cabin heater.
