LE ROY QUARTER-REPEATER ENAMEL, PEARL & YELLOW GOLD
Julien Le Roy à Paris, No. 907. Made for the Islamic market, circa 1800.
Very fine and rare, gold, quarter-repeating, painted on enamel and
pearl-set pocket watch with outer gilt-brass and shagreen protecting case.
Two-body, bassine, the back with a finely painted on enamel bouquet
of flowers on a light blue ground, aperture for the shuttered winding,
graduated pearl-set border, translucent red, white and pale green enamel
border, the bezel and band very finely pierced and decorated with
engraved gold foliage and translucent red flowers and blue translucent
enamel scrolls, the bezel edge set with seed pearls. Gilt-brass dust cover.
White enamel secured by a single screw, radial Islamic numerals, outer
minute divisions and five-minute Islamic numerals. Blued steel Breguet
hands.
31 mm. gilt brass full plate, fusee and chain, verge escapement, steel
three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental cock pierced and
engraved with foliage, polished steel endplate, rack and pinion regulator
with silver plate with Islamic numerals, repeating on a bell in the back of
the case.
