Bavarian Motor… Boatyard? Rare BMW speedboat to be auctioned

An unusual racing boat sporting the engine from a BMW 328 will soon be sold by French auction house Osenat…

Shortly after WWII, a racing boat scene began to develop in Germany. Privateers would race their lightweight machines in competitions across Europe – and one such machine was Berlin III, formerly owned by racing driver Jürgen Baginski. Its engine began life as the 1,998cc six-cylinder from a BMW 321, since upgraded to 328-spec with triple carbs. Osenat expects it to fetch 130,000 – 160,000 euros when it’s sold in Fontainebleau this weekend.

The Berlin III will be part of Osenat's 16 March 2014 auction in Fontainebleau, France. Further information can be found at www.osenat.fr
