Chrysler‘s image in Europe has been a little fuzzy in recent years, most of the interest in the company has been centred on whether **or** not the latest business plan will save the smallest member of the Detroit ‘Big Three‘ from oblivion. In the 1920‘s and 1930‘s, however, Chrysler was synonymous with advanced engineering and racked up an impressive record in motor racing. There were class wins in the Mille Miglia in 1929 and 1930, second and third in the 1928 Spa 24 Hours, and third and fourth at Le Mans in the same year. Sir Malcolm Campbell lapped Brooklands at close to l00mph in his Chrysler and the marque won numerous events in the States. Walter Chrysler began his working life sweeping floors and by 1920 was on a salary of a million dollars a year to reorganise the ailing Willys organisation. Before long he was also s
