Much has been written into the annuals of motor racing history about the early racing exploits of the Sunbeam Company. The cars from the Wolverhampton works won numerous races at Brooklands, were twice successful in the Tourist Trophy races of 1914 and 1922, won the 1912 Coupe de l‘Auto event, added a first in the 1923 French Grand Prix, set numerous world records and held the "Land Speed Record" on five occasions. These are just some of the highlights of the first cars to win wearing ‘British Racing Green’. The 3-litre, straight-8 TT cars were the epitome of the British drive and determination to beat the world on the racing circuits. Henry Segrave gave one of the Sunbeams its first outing at the 1921 Brooklands Easter Meeting where it ran in a 3-litre scratch race. He completed his two flying laps at 101.64
