The Porsche 550RS Spyder was a legend in its own lifetime. Outright victories on the Targa Florio, plus class wins on the Carrera Panamericana and at Le Mans, sealed the iconic status of the Stuttgart firm's first bespoke racing car, as did the fact that only 90 were built between October 1952 and June 1956.
This isn't one of them. Instead this is a replica and therefore isn't expected to fetch somewhere north of £1 million, which has to be good news. However, it's a very tidy and well executed copy of the classic Spyder and is believed to originate from the USA, where there are a number of highly respected firms that build 'blueprinted' versions of the 550 Rennsport.
