In June 1970, the Range Rover was introduced to the public, to much critical acclaim. Originally, the Range Rover was fitted with a detuned 135hp version of the Buick-derived Rover V8 engine. The 3,528cc engine was increased to a displacement of 3,947cc for the 1990 model year, and 4,197cc in 1992.
