Rubbing door handles with the Jaguar E-type and original post-War Land Rover, the Aston Martin DB5 is surely one of the most iconic British cars in automotive history. As a convertible, it is arguably even more attractive than in coupé form. DK Engineering has an immaculate, fully restored example awaiting a new owner.

Only 123 convertibles were ever made, adding to an exclusivity already offered by the DB5 badge. Chassis number DB5C/1906/R is a right-hand drive model, and was delivered new in 1965 to the famous BAFTA-winning English character actress Beryl Reid. The first of only four owners of the car, she kept the elegant convertible for eight years – during which time the colour was changed from Caribbean Pearl to Midnight Blue – before selling it to enthusiast Bruce Coles, who owned the car until 2010.

A full body-off restoration was commissioned by the current owner last year, entrusting the task to Aston Martin Works Service in Newport Pagnell. The concours-level work was completed just two months ago and included a Vantage-specification engine rebuild and full mechanical overhaul, as well as another colour change – this time to Gabiano Blue.

Since the car’s post-restoration maiden journey, it has completed just 300 miles. It comes with full restoration documentation in addition to the original logbook. Price: ‘On Request’, please.
