Those wanting to sell luxury cars are, for the moment, looking to the East. First, there was the Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano China; and now a limited-edition Maserati GranTurismo S MC Sport Line with Matt White ‘ICE’ finish, especially for the Middle East.

The limited-edition Maserati was unveiled last week in the futuristic surroundings of the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. Only 12 of these limited-edition GranTurismos will be produced – all for Middle Eastern markets. The ‘MC Sport Line’ options, available to Maserati clients worldwide, reflect the input from the Maserati Corse racing department, which contributed to the design of the functional components. An example is the Aerodynamic Package (including double front winglets, rear lip-spoiler, and so on), optional modifications which were developed in the wind tunnel and tested at race circuits on the Maserati GranTurismo MC race car concept. The designers also took inspiration from motor racing when it came to the styling, with carbon fibre playing a heavy part.

But Maserati won’t just be looking to the East when it comes to customers for its upcoming limited editions. We’re told that a version of the GranTurismo S MC Sport Line finished in ‘Matt Bianco Fuji’ with eye-catching pearlescent nuances, will be dedicated to the Italian market. Just 11 customers will be able to sit behind the wheel of this exclusive, Italy-only car.
