Available to order now at an OTR price of £95,630, the first right-hand-drive Maserati GranCabrios are due to reach the Maserati UK dealer network next April.

Also announced are the performance figures for this – the first ever four-seater convertible produced at the Viale Ciro Menotti Maserati factory. Delivering 427bhp through a six-speed ZF automatic gearbox, the 4.7-litre V8 will propel the 1980kg car from standstill to 62mph in 5.4 seconds, and on to a top speed of 175mph. On the combined cycle, the GranCabrio manages 18.54mpg and puts out 354g/km of CO2.

Maserati says that the four proper seats mean ‘rear passengers are not merely supporting actors, but co-stars of the journey’. In less flowery terms, it’s worth noting the GranCabrio has the longest wheelbase (2492mm) of any convertible on the market.

Nor does the customer need to compromise on individuality: Maserati’s personalisation programme offers six shades for the soft top, to complement the choice of 14 exterior colours, along with two new Poltrona Frau® leather colours: Bianco Polare (Polar White) and Blu Profondità (Deep Blue). For the dashboard, door panels and rear side panels, you can stick with the new ‘Dark Chrome’ standard finish – or opt for precious woods, such as Carbalho and Moonwood, or even coloured lacquer finishes.

And finally, you might want to top the whole package off with a bespoke, four-piece leather luggage set, which fits perfectly into the boot.
