It’s been a busy year for the Monegasque yacht-building company, Wally. A mere 10 days after the launch of the Wally 130, another new boat took to the water in the form of the elegant Wally 101 ‘Indio’...
The ‘Indio’ is a truly beautiful 30m (100ft) sloop, designed with the customer’s brief in mind. An experienced and passionate yachtsman, the customer asked Wally to build him a round-the-world high-performance cruiser that could ‘comfortably accommodate’ his family – along with their small children. That was a demanding brief, even for the renowned boat-builder.
The new Wally 101 is a further development of the 100-footer Y3K. The mast is made from light but sturdy carbon composite, with sails that have a maximum area, when sailing downwind, of 1259sqm.
The 59-ton luxury yacht can sail at a maximum speed of a stately 12 knots, with sails that are operated hydraulically.
The Indio’s uncluttered deck features a large, open-air dining-room, comfortably seating up to eight guests. A further highlight of the sporting yacht is the aft sea terrace.
Below deck, a total of six cabins provides accommodation for 10 guests and four crew, including an ‘owner’s stateroom’ with ensuite shower and toilet. The main saloon offers a large living area equipped with all the expected Multimedia comforts, and an interior design dominated by teak. Meanwhile, an enormous glass strip serves as a skylight and allows a warm and bright ambience, while a large window gives a view onto the sea terrace.
The 101 Indio will be on show in Monaco from 23 to 26 September. See www.wally.com.
