The 612 Scaglietti Sessanta is revealed at Maranello

Ferrari President Luca di Montezemolo, with Piero Ferrari, took centre stage to unveil the highly desirable model produced to celebrate the company’s 60th birthday. Made in such small numbers, even the President himself is unable to jump the waiting list and take delivery of one of just 60 examples available worldwide.

The occasion was the Technical Innovation Seminar held at the beginning of the final weekend of celebrations to mark the end of the relay which drove around the world carrying the baton, with 60 symbols, representing the most important moments in the history of Ferrari, to Maranello.

"This is an important weekend," said di Montezemolo, before he presented the 612 Scaglietti to the press, "because we celebrate 60 years of work, extraordinary moments, joyful moments and less joyful ones. During these years," Montezemolo said, talking about the years of his presidency, "we have always tried to look ahead, but without ever losing sight of Enzo Ferrari's heritage. We are selling dreams, full of technology and innovation, which are also the fruit of craftsmanship, with the special capacity to transmit emotion and passion. Ferrari is right here in Maranello, but it is also open to the world.

“And we are present in many markets: in the US and in China, in the Middle East and in South America, to name just the most important ones. Although there is this wide field, Ferrari continues to be based on its most important values: the patrimony made up of men and competence, the special relationship with its customers, who are also its ambassadors, and in the races. And all of this is framed by its exclusivity; a Ferrari needs to be desired."

Together with Piero Ferrari and Ferrari director general, Amedeo Felisa, and Product Development Director Massimo Fumarola, Montezemolo finally took the racing red cover off the 612 Scaglietti Sessanta, a car that has been limited to just 60 examples, each of them personalized with one of the 60 symbols which have been chosen to celebrate the 60 years of existence of the company.

The car exhibits many innovations: a latest-generation electrochromatic roof like the one debuted on the Superamerica, new interiors with high quality leather by Poltrona Frau, and the "engine start" button positioned on the steering wheel, normally only available on the F430 and F599 GTB. With a power-to-weight ration of 3,2 BHP/Kg the 612 Scaglietti Sessanta is the best performing 2+2 in the world.
