For every super-sporting M3 driver BMW ‘M’ offers a new package for next year, very much geared for competition. Only available if ordered direct from the factory with a new vehicle, the options are available in Germany at a cost of 5,300 EURO.

The ‘Competition Package’ includes 19” alloy wheels from the M3 CSL, with high-speed rated tyres, 225/40 R 19 front and 255/35 R 19 rear. These, together with an optimised chassis and faster steering, give the car a noticeably better handling response. The driver also has the benefit of the ‘M TRACK’ mode from the M3 CSL that allows absolutely on-the-limit driving without activating the DSC (dynamic stability control).

Both the steering wheel and the hand-brake handle are covered in Alcantara imitation suede leather, as is the control for the optional Sequential ‘M’ transmission. The ‘M TRACK’ mode button can be seen on the right spoke of the sports steering wheel.

The M3 CSL’s braking set-up has also been adopted, so the front discs now have an increased diameter of 20mm to 345mm. For the interior the Competition Package offers a special Alu-Tec finish, and on the outside there’s a new colour; Interlagos Blue Metallic.
