EXTERIOR
Dashing in its two tone Pearl Blue metallic finish, with a matching hardtop and dark blue soft-top, it’s easy to see why the sweeping form of the R129 SL is fast becoming a modern classic. Solid squared headlights punctate the period styling of the front end, whilst the modestly sized 16″ 8 hole alloys offset the blue finish to create a pure and simple aesthetic.

Bodywork shows in good condition throughout, retaining a bright and even finish with nothing more than a few minor imperfections to note. Condition of the hood is also very good, with the rear window recently replaced it shows free from any rips or wear.

INTERIOR
High quality craftsmanship was synonymous with Mercedes throughout the 80s/90s, and this SL280 is no exception. Upholstered in a classic combination of Mushroom leather and walnut trim, the plush finish of the interior lifts the whole look of the SL to create a perfect summer sports car. Wonderfully supportive the electric adjustable leather seats provide fantastic comfort that matches the cruising set up of the automatic gearbox, helped further by the optional wind deflector which keeps cabin noise to a minimum once the automatic soft-top is down.

Sitting in place of the dated radio sits a modern JVC head unit, which provides CD player, Aux input and Bluetooth, allowing the driver to enjoy the SL without compromise.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 2.8l straight-6 engine has four valves per cylinder with twin overhead camshafts producing 190bhp, paired to a 4-speed automatic gearbox for an effortlessly smooth delivery.

The engine bay presents immaculately, and having been routinely serviced throughout its history the car reacts perfectly upon cold start and throughout it’s warming cycle.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The 16″ 8-hole alloys perfectly fir the period look of this SL and present in good order, free from any signs of curbing of chips. Matching tyres are fitted at each corner and have excellent tread depth remaining all around.

Braking performance is more than capable, with discs all around bringing the car to a halt with minimal fuss.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied on 14/09/1993 by Mercedes Benz Tamworth, this R129 generation SL was one of the first to be delivered to the UK. Covering just 37k miles to date the car has lived a very sheltered life, travelling just 4k miles in the last 10 years with the previous owner. Due to the cars limited use throughout its life servicing has been carried out on a mileage basis, with 6 services from a combination of main dealers and specialists, with the next service to be completed in house upon sale.

MOT history is comprehensive, with a log of certificate dating back to 1997 to help verify the SLs low mileage.

Present with the car is the complete original book pack, service invoices, MOTs, V5, wind deflector and hardtop.
