Description

-- Für die deutsche Beschreibung besuchen Sie bitte unsere Website: www.carola-daimler.de --

The German 280 SL Pagoda offered here impresses with its impeccable condition and complete history since its delivery in 1969 in Berlin. All numbers and colors match those on the available Daimler-Benz data card (Matching Numbers & Colors), and the total mileage of 151,200 km is traceable. The first vehicle registration certificate is available, in it all vehicle owners are registered. The current owner purchased the roadster in 1993, the sales contract is available. Since then, all work carried out has been meticulously documented and kept, together with other general documentation on the Pagoda they fill two large folders.

In 1994, the interior and carpets were to be renewed by a well-known German Pagoda specialist. During disassembly, it was noticed that the floor and bulkhead panels were rusted through, whereupon the current owner decided to have the bodywork fully restored.

The engine and transmission had previously been completely overhauled in 1986. Complete documentation of the restoration based on photos and invoices is available. In the following years, the cavity preservation and the underbody protection were regularly renewed, so that the vehicle is still in an almost perfect condition today.

The engine is still today, approx. 60,000 km after the overhaul, in an excellent condition. Thanks to meticulous care and regular service (receipts available), it starts reliably and runs very clean. The transmission was completely overhauled in 2020, and the soft top was also renewed in the original black "Sonnenland" fabric.

The Pagoda is a truly all-around collector's item that also cuts a fine figure on the road - the perfect companion for the coming summer.

History of the series
------------------------
The top model of the SL series W 113 produces 170 hp from its 2.8 l displacement. As the successor to the 190 SL series, it fulfilled the wishes of many customers for more power and comfort. Due to the smooth running of the large in-line six-cylinder engine, the Pagoda also offered exceptionally good cruising qualities, making it a pleasant companion on rallies & trips.

The safety measures, which were new and trend-setting for the time, ensure a relaxed feeling. These included a defused interior without corners and edges, seat belts as special equipment and defined crumple zones.

The name "Pagoda" was given to it by the vernacular, as the concave roof resembles temples from the Far East - in other words, pagodas. Yet the shape was originally intended quite rationally as an improvement in space.
