The History of the Alfa Romeo Duetto III serie Aerodinamica (1983-1989)

A substantial retouching to the Duetto line took place in 1983 with the adoption of new wraparound bumpers, while the truncated tail was modified by a new set of rear lights larger than a black synthetic material spoiler. The modification itself "original" and in line with the trends of the early '80s, is not much appreciated today, but it still derives from an in-depth study carried out by Pininfarina in the wind tunnel, with aerodynamic advantages which however did not benefit the aesthetics of the now classic Spider. From the dashboard stands the Hellebore burl steering wheel and an instrument panel with separate "eyelids" for rev counter and odometer, central tunnel with fuel gauge, oil pressure and water temperature, all extremely minimalist.
The Duetto will remain unchanged until 1986, when the classic double-eyelid instrument panel will be replaced by a more compact one-eyelid one, which also collects the secondary instruments, previously placed on the center console, and where additional air vents are inserted.
Also in 1986, the classic chromed mirrors were replaced by two model-specific Vitaloni mirrors, in black plastic like the rest of the finishes, called "candelabra" by enthusiasts due to their larger size and their protrusion from the shape of the body. Until the end of the series, in 1990, there will be no substantial changes. This series was produced with 2 carburettor engines (1,600 and 2,000), with power outputs of 102 CV DIN and 128 CV DIN respectively.
The III Aerodynamic Series came off the market in 1990, after 5,390 units of the 1,600 cc model were produced.

Our Alfa Romeo Duetto 1600 Aerodinamica

The car was recently repainted and is in perfect body condition, there are no scratches or traces of rust.
The interior is very well preserved, the original black leather seats are in almost perfect condition as are the door paneling and the carpet on the floor.
The instrumentation is the original one and is fully functional, the Hellebore three-spoke steering wheel stands out in the center of the dashboard.
The engine has been overhauled and some parts replaced and its starting is immediate and runs full.
The Duetto is today an object extremely appreciated by fans of the Arese brand, able to satisfy even the most demanding of collectors.
A well-preserved or professionally restored specimen reaches high prices today, especially on foreign markets and those who own one keep it tight. An opportunity not to be missed.

The car is visible in the "Brescia Classic Car" showroom, in Brescia.
