The SLC was the coupe version of the W107 series SL, the successor to the W113 Pagoda. When introduced in 1971 the W107 was only available as a 350 SL(C). Due to the oil crisis in 1973 Mercedes-Benz decided to supply the more economical version; the 280SL(C). Together with the G-class, the W107 has been the longest running series to come out of the Mercedes-Benz plant. We have a 1974 edition. Since it was registered in the Netherlands in 1999 it has been in the same hands for the last 22 years. Except for a re-spray (Silver-Grey 180) the car is still pretty original. The interior gives a very well cared for and authentic impression. The trim is neat and the upholstery in good condition. The dashboard looks fine and all controls and instruments are in good working order. The car also has a sunroof. Mechanically the car is sound and well maintained. The engine and transmission run smoothly and the drive has a high quality luxurious feel to it. The sound and rust-free chassis completes the whole. This is really a good quality time capsule with just the right amount of patina.
