We do like these, the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III coachbuilt by HJ Mulliner / Park Ward. Politically correct or not, a 'Chinese Eye' always catches attention and this one in Claret over Beige Connolly hide does so too, maybe more than most.

Refered to in period as the 'Chinese Eye' alluding to the pretty shape of the front headlights.

We have a couple in our stable at the moment similar to this, and as is consistent she has an exemplary service history, having been known by our friends, The Chelsea Workshop for over 40 years!!!

Since 1978, a Mr. Simpson took over ownership at 15,200 miles and had them look after the car, annually, at great expense keeping every bit of paperwork and invoice - even quote! - throughout, creating inches thick worth of paperwork up until 1998 when Mr. Simpson sold the car, but all subsequent keepers have equally kept invoices and paperwork up to date.

During Mr. Simpson ownership, not only did he thoroughly look after the car, but he had in 1994 a complete body off restoration, rear road springs overhauled and re-tensioned, front suspension overhaul and breaking system overhauled. All the bright work was re-chromed and the car completely repainted. At this time, the timing was adjusted for unleaded. The mileage at the time of the restoration was 66,601.

A Mr. Lovejoy had a brief affair with her in 1998 until the next long term keeper took over ownership in 2001, a Mr. Garret, with the mileage reading 72,000 and he ran the car - again maintaining her thoroughly - until in 2010 when the car was exported to a Danish gentleman, Mr Christensen.

Whilst in Denmark, the owner Mr. Christensen has spent copious amounts of money ensuring, and making the car as perfect as it can be. An invoice in 2011 sees €52,006.74 being spent, using the specialist Autovorksted. These works are documented in Danish, of course.

Now back in the UK The Chelsea Workshop was again entrusted to amend minor hiccups like slow electric windows, to a thoroughly extensive engine revamp, to the cost of £8,441.

The car is now for sale, after having very few owners, few miles, lots of money spent, and accompanying her a full service history, as well as her original books, and a fabulous "Supplement to the Bentley S2 Continental Handbook for the Bentley S3 Continental"! Peculiar piece of history, but lovely none the less.
