Description

French registration papers
Engine: V4, longitudinally mounted at the front – 1584cc - 114bhp at 6200rpm

Derived from the Fulvia saloon, the coupé was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 1965. Designed by Pietro Castagnero, its lines were both more flowing and more sporting. Within a short time, Cesare Fiorio, the head of the Squadra Corse HF Lancia racing team, clamoured for his management to let him take advantage of the Fulvia coupé’s performance in motorsport. In 1966, the first Fulvia 1.2 HF for competition appeared, followed two years later by the 1.6 HF production model. The 1.6 HF arrived at the same time as Lancia was taken over by Fiat, which resulted in increased investment in competition and, as a crowning glory, victory in the World Rally Championship in 1972, as well as many other wins until 1974. Altogether, 3690 1600 HF and HF Lusso coupés were built, until production of the Lancia Fulvia HF coupé ended in January 1973.

The model which we are offering for sale was first registered in France on 10 December 1971 by Madame Madeleine Boucher in the Gers ‘département’. She kept it for 28 years, before selling it to its current owner in November 2007, making it a rare two-owner car. Thanks to the comprehensive history file with the car, which includes a copy of the original registration certificate and photographs taken in period, it can be seen that the car was in excellent original condition. Never repainted or modified, the car was running perfectly and had 69,792km (43,367 miles) on the clock. In order to take part in historic motorsport events, the car was then completely stripped down (supported by photographic records) and restored. As the body was very solid, it was simply repainted in its original colour. The engine, gearbox, running gear, brakes, fuel tank and system were all entirely stripped down and refurbished. In addition to the photographic record, all the work was documented and each part listed. In the end, more than €22,000 was invested. The car has a Historic Technical Passport (valid since 2009), while its original interior – in perfect condition – will also be handed over to its new owner. With its lengthy list of successes in competition, the Lancia Fulvia 1600 HF left its mark on its era and remains to this day one of the flagships of the make, just like the Stratos which took its place in motorsport.
