Description

"There always seems to be some confusion about the origins of the 240 and 340 Jaguar. The timeline is simple; in 1969, the Mk. II was discontinued and a completely new model was introduced, the 340 (3.4 litre engine) before the introduction of the XJ6. The shell was the same but top speed was increased to 119mph with 0-60mph attained in 11.9 seconds - pretty rapid even by today’s standards. It now had a straight-port type cylinder head and the automatic gearbox was upgraded. And finally, always a tell-tale sign, the front fog lamps were replaced with circular vents.
Acquired by the vendor over ten years ago to contribute to his predilection of British classic cars, this Jaguar 340 is one of the rare automatic variants that comes with power steering as well as the addition of Coopercraft front brakes and electronic ignition. Presented in classic deep blue with a contrasting red Ambla interior, this classic big cat requires some restoration all round. Light bubbling can be found over the wheel arches although the wire-wheels show minimal corrosion and the tyres appear sound. The interior woodwork and leather look good and the engine presents well. Inspection is recommended.INTERESTED PARTIES SHOULD NOTE THAT THIS CAR IS NOT REGISTERED IN THE UK AND, AS SUCH, DOES NOT COME WITH A UK REGISTRATION DOCUMENT. IT IS SOLD WITH A BILL OF SALE ONLY."
