Description

This classic car is for sale on Catawiki. To have more information or to place a bid click on the "BID NOW" button. .This Alfa Romeo C Sprint Touring from the 1st series was delivered new in Vercelli, Piedmont, Italy on 19 November 1953, in white (bianco Isabella), the steering wheel was fitted on the right, dixit Marco Fazio (Centro Documentazione Alfa Romeo).

The documentation I have tells the story of this car from the late 1970s onwards. Registered in Great Britain at the time and known by Peter Marshall from the Alfa Romeo 1900 register.

Mr. Marshall also played a major role (searching and providing parts, practical advice, etc.) during the complete restoration of the car by Brian Mayes in the early 1980s.

I have an extensive folder from the restoration with invoices and correspondence between Mr. Mayes and the restoration company, Church Green Engineering. The cost of it was eye-watering.

During the restoration they decided to install non-original Weber carburettors as well as a dry sump system, both non-original parts, but they do make the car exceptionally reliable and user-friendly. A possible conversion to the original specification is still possible (the parts are available), should the next owner wish to do that.

I bought the car in 2009 and have driven 14,000 reliable kilometres with it. The car won awards at various events such as the jury prize, Spa-Italia", twice "Best in show" from the AROC, UK (Hever castle) and an invitation to the Antwerp Concours (Belvedere castle).

The car can be viewed and picked up in Vilvoorde, Belgium.
