Description
The Jaguar XK120 is a sports car manufactured by Jaguar between 1948-1954. It was Jaguar’s first sports car since the SS 100, which stopped production in 1940. The XK120 was launched both as an open 2-seater and roadster at the 1948 London Motor Show as a show car for the new Jaguar XK engine.
Originally designed to showcase Jaguar’s new twin-cam motor, the XK120 was an immediate hit when it debuted in October of 1948. Strong public reaction convinced company founder William Lyons to put the streamlined roadster into production, with the Jaguar XK120 becoming a huge influence in the next few decades of sports car history.
Rear wheel drive road car, 2 door convertible/cabriolet bodyshell. It is powered by a 3.4 Litre engine. Features double overhead camshaft valve gear, 6 cylinder layout, and 2 valves per cylinder. Produces 190 bhp (193 PS/142 kW). Weight 1397 kg. The Jaguar XK 120 DHC manages to cover the 0-60 mph sprint in 9.5 seconds and the standing-start quarter mile in 17.5 seconds. The Jaguar XK 120 DHC is claimed to manage a top speed of 193 km/h (120 mph).
The XK dual-cam motor was a marvel of engineering, and would power Jaguars for another two decades, including the 1961-1969 “E” Type The car offered here is in absolutely stunning condition. Very well maintained with immaculate servicing and upkeep. Jaguar Heritage certificate #43633, and fully original. Original factory colours:
