Occasionally, very occasionally, the colour is enough to persuade you to buy a car. This "ölklappe" 911 Targa with its “Signal Gelb” finish from march 1972 is just such a vehicle. It is one of the rarest 911 Targa’s from the model’s long, rich history. Only in 1972 did they produce a version with the separate oil lid , the “ölklappe", and it was also the last 911 that Ferdinand Piëch worked on before he left for Audi. The car was supplied when new in California, the United States and came to The Netherlands in 1996. In the Netherlands it has only had one owner and has been kept in exemplary fashion. The service and maintenance history from 1992 onwards is complete and included in the paperwork. There is even a copy of the original bill of sale present from Carlson San Francisco Porsche dealership in California. Mario de Proli ordered the car on the 10th May 1972. He specified the “Signal Gelb” 911 Targa with Fuchs rims, a comfort package, heat reflecting windows and air-conditioning. The bodywork is in fine condition with nice and thin, correctly aligned panelwork. For cosmetic reasons the Signal Gelb paint has been re-applied and is in a good state with only minor signs of use. The extensive brightwork has also been well maintained. The 6J wide 15 inch Fuchs wheels complete the external picture. The interior trim looks a peach and has clearly been very well looked after over the years. The comfort package includes things like a leather clad steering wheel, oil volume and pressure meter, chrome strips around the doors and internal bodywork, velour carpets ,the aforementioned air-conditioning and heat reflective windows. The pack suits the relaxed driving characteristics of the Porsche 911 Targa. The black upholstery is in very good condition and the dashboard is also very nice. The instruments are all in perfect working order and all switches, levers and handles are very neat. Mechanically this 911 is a jewell. The 2.4 boxer engine is original and therefore matching numbers! The engine runs perfectly smooth. The manual 5-speed gearbox shifts precisely and without any excess play, in other words; it behaves exactly as it should. This wonderful 911 is compilation of special features; the colour, the ölklappe, the air-conditioning, the history and the matching numbers all contribute to make this car unique!
