We have a really nice 1968 Volvo Amazon. It is an older restoration that is still in great shape. The last owner kept the car for no less than 32 years. The accompanying photo reportage reveals the fact that the bodywork was taken back to bare metal. After the necessary repairs the car was re-sprayed in a lovely blue. Many upgrades were fitted to the car during the restoration. The was given an overdrive, GT rev counter, GT steering wheel, reclining seat mechanism and a GT emblem. Furthermore the car has wide KPZ rims, spotlights and fog lights, a tow bar, headrests, reinforced rear springs and shocks, a central console with clock, a LPG tank and as crowning glory the trademark blue sunvisor. All this explains why a Volvo amazon is such a favourite classic. It has fine roadholding manners and can easily be used for the daily commute. This car is still in great shape. The bodywork has minor signs of use as is to be expected. The panelwork is nice and thin with correct shut lines. The paintwork is similarly neat with only minor blemishes. The interior trim is in very good shape with neat upholstery and well-preserved dashboard with all switches and instruments in good working order. Mechanically the car has not been ignored. Good maintenance is reflected in its road handling. The reinforced rear suspension clearly benefits roadholding. The engine runs as well on petrol as on LPG. The gearbox shifts precise and sure-footedly. In other word this is a great Volvo Amazon with a lovely finish. Thanks to the LPG installation the car is a perfect youngtimer for business use.
