Restored to a very high level with a particularly handsome, factory-appropriate color combination, this mid-production Series 1 Jaguar E-Type roadster is a highly desirable example of the popular Coventry sports car that Enzo Ferrari once legendarily pronounced to be “the most beautiful car ever made.”

According to a trace certificate from the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust, chassis number 878834 completed assembly in late December 1962, finished in cream paint and trimmed with a red interior and a black top. Early the following year the E-Type was distributed to Jaguar Cars New York for sale to American ownership. By the late-2000s the roadster was acquired by Robert Lorkowski, the principal of a Pebble Beach-awarded restoration facility in Cameron, Wisconsin, called L’Cars Automotive Specialists.

Reportedly restoring the Jaguar for Mr. Lorkowski’s personal use rather than as a customer job, L’Cars set about a comprehensive refurbishment that addressed all mechanical and cosmetic needs, reaching completion in 2010. A high level of period accuracy was achieved, as attested by the correct shift knob, a Becker Europa radio, and wire wheels shod with wide-whitewall tires. Seeking to distinguish the E-Type from more common color schemes, the owner chose a rare but factory-appropriate color combination of Opalescent Dark Blue paint over a gray leather interior, complemented with a dark blue Stayfast top.

Acquired by the consignor in 2016, the beautifully restored Jaguar has been dutifully maintained while occasionally being enjoyed during mild drives. The roadster is accompanied by a proper jack and original tool kit, and notably retains its matching-numbers 3.8-liter engine—the spiritual descendant of the motor that powered multiple Le Mans winning Jaguars during the 1950s. This handsome E-Type is ideal for road use or presentation at local shows and marque events, sure to strike the fancy of any sports car enthusiast.
