Behind-closed-doors Goodwood Speedweek poised for October

In the absence of the Festival of Speed and the Revival, the Duke of Richmond has announced Speedweek, a behind-closed-doors event described as Goodwood’s ‘fastest ever’ poised to take from 16–18 October…

All is not lost

If, like us, you’re gutted that there will be no Festival of Speed or Revival this year, the news that Goodwood will televise a behind-closed-doors automotive event on its website and social media channels from 16–18 October will be a welcome surprise. Described by the Duke of Richmond as ‘the fastest, most exciting and spectacular event’ Goodwood has ever staged, Speedweek will be a hybrid of the Festival of Speed and the Revival and comprise traditional circuit races, a rally competition, a Bonhams collector car auction and a one-lap shootout. The lack of any spectators has reportedly allowed the organisers to be freer in terms of the machinery permitted to take part competitively. Modern cars, for example, will race at the historic West Sussex circuit for the first time, and it’s suggested that the lap record will fall as a result. Stay tuned for more news about what promises to be an epic few days of motorsport.
