At the 40th anniversary celebrations of Garage Francorchamps in Brussels, Belgium, in 1992, Ferrari chose to introduce its newest four-seater grand touring car, the 456. Boasting elegant Pininfarina styling, the 456 would propel Ferrari into the 21st century whilst harkening back to the elegant GT cars of the 1950s and 1960s.

As a four-seater Ferrari grand-tourer, its performance was exceptional. The 456’s 442-bhp V-12 ensured it could reach speeds of over 186 mph and accelerate from 0–100 km/h in 5.2 seconds. Luxuriously appointed, a full leather interior with electronically adjustable front seats, electric windows, an eight-speaker stereo system with a CD player and air conditioning were all standard-fit.

This 456 GT was delivered new to Caracas, Venezuela to the Ferrari importer Maranello Motorsports on the 25th of June 1996. It was then sold for the first time on the 23rd of June 1997 to Mr. Marcel Granier who was the General Director of RCTV which was the most watched TV channel in Venezuela, and also famous for supporting the attempted coup against President Hugo Chávez, the brief government of Pedro Carmona Estanga, and the general strike that began on December 2, 2002.

In January 1998, Mr Granier had the car sent to France, where he sparingly used it and meticulously maintained it with Auvergne Moteurs until 2011 when it was moved to the U.K where it remained in Mr Granier’s custody until December 2015. It has since resided in the UK and was regularly serviced at Ferrari main dealerships with all invoices on file. Recent maintenance in March this year includes a £3.200 service with engine oil and brake fluid change, camshaft, timing belt replacement and removal of the infamous “sticky buttons” finish.

Accompanied by its original delivery invoice, books, tools, luggage set, and car cover and having travelled less than 21,000 km, it is ready for its new owner to enjoy the sound of its magnificent V-12 engine, while adding considerably more mileage. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at rmsothebys.com/en/auctions/0420.
