Vehicle history:

Porsche presented the later so-called “prototype” in September 1963 at the IAA in Frankfurt am Main under its internal development number as the Porsche 901. However, the name had to be changed shortly after the start of sales in November 1964, because Peugeot had secured the rights to all three-digit numbers with the "0" in the middle as the name for its car models.
It is said that Ferdinand Alexander Porsche had the stipulation for the design of the body, among other things, to be able to accommodate at least one set of golf clubs in the trunk, since the typical Porsche customers had missed something like this with the 356. Together with Erwin Komenda, who already significantly influenced the development of the Porsche 356, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche designed the shape of the 911, which is still characteristic of the car to this day.
This early Porsche 911 was ordered by a New Yorker gentleman in 1967. In 2015 it was brought from the USA to Germany in an unrestored state and was fully restored later.

Fahrzeughistorie:

Porsche stellte das später so genannte „Urmodell“ im September 1963 auf der IAA in Frankfurt am Main unter seiner internen Entwicklungsnummer als Porsche 901 vor. Die Bezeichnung musste jedoch kurz nach dem Verkaufsstart im November 1964 geändert werden, da sich Peugeot als Bezeichnung für seine Pkw-Modelle die Rechte an sämtlichen dreistelligen Zahlen mit der „0“ in der Mitte gesichert hatte.
Es heißt, dass Ferdinand Alexander Porsche für den Entwurf der Karosserie unter anderem die Maßgabe hatte, mindestens ein Set Golfschläger im Kofferraum unterbringen zu können, da die typische Porsche-Kundschaft so etwas beim 356er vermisst habe. Zusammen mit Erwin Komenda, der bereits die Entwicklung des Porsche 356 maßgeblich beeinflusste, entwarf Ferdinand Alexander Porsche die Form des 911, die bis heute charakteristisch für den Wagen ist.
Dieser frühe Porsche 911 wurde von einem New Yorker 1967 bestellt. 2015 wurde er aus den USA in unrestauriertem Zustand nach Deutschland gebracht und dort vollumfänglich restauriert.
