The first Aston Martin DB5 Goldfinger Continuation is complete

It costs £2.75m excluding taxes, you can’t drive it on the road and no matter how badly you want it to, it won’t make you as suave as special agent 007. But the ‘new-original’ Goldfinger Aston Martin DB5s are worthy tributes to the most famous car in the world…

‘Job 1’ is the first of the 25 Goldfinger DB5 Continuations Aston Martin is building in collaboration with Eon Productions, the company behind the James Bond films, complete with a raft of the on-screen car’s Q-branch gadgets developed by the Oscar-winning special effects expert Chris Courbould. Over 4,500 man hours were invested by Aston’s craftsmen to complete the first authentic recreations of the Silver Birch beauty that has starred in no fewer than seven 007 flicks, the most famous of which was undoubtedly Goldfinger. It’s also the first ‘new’ DB5 to leave the marque’s Newport Pagnell plant in 55 years. Sure, you might not be allowed to blind your fellow road users with the working rear smoke screen delivery system or fool speed cameras with the revolving license plates, but for Bond aficionados, collection crowning pieces surely don’t get any better.
