Description

Transmission: 4 gears, Manual gearbox
Model year: 2020
Registration number: AM-76-18

The first Porsche 356 saw the light of day on the 8th June 1948 in the Austrian town of Gmünd built by Ferry Porsche, the son of Ferdinand Porsche. Porsche has a long history of model longevity. The Porsche 356 amazingly stayed in production until 1965, the year its successor, the 911, stood in the starting blocks. Between 1948 and 1965 76,313 examples of the various 356’s were produced. Amongst the documentation a letter from Porsche to the Rotgger family from Hagen, Germany, shows us that this car was supplied to them midway through 1963. The car is thus an original European supplied car, a 1600 Super, and one of the last 356 B’s built. The car remained in Germany until 2009 when it entered the Netherlands and registered to the first of two Dutch owners. On arrival in the Netherlands it underwent a full overhaul and restoration. Photos show just how detailed this restoration was. Today this Porsche 356 is still in prime condition as is borne out by the good bodywork and chassis condition as well as the way it drives. It has a superb quality “Albert Blue” finish which is matched by the quality of the interior trim with nice dark grey carpets and a couple of perfectly moulded RF Tornio bucket seats, that not only sit well but also have been reupholstered in leather and compliment the whole quite nicely. You steer using a wonderful Nardi wooden steering wheel. Everything in this car works as expected. The engine runs really well and the gearbox shifts supplely and sure-footed. The latest invoice dates from 2019. In short, this is a very well maintained and beautifully presented Porsche 356 convertible; ready for many more thousands of kilometres Old-timer pleasure.
