The XK140 was introduced as a 1955 model in late 1954. Like its predecessor, the XK120, the XK140 nomenclature was reference to the vehicle's top speed of 140 miles per hour. Improvements over the 120 were evident everywhere from improved braking, suspension and steering. Customers appreciated the increase in interior space, while sporting drivers were quite fond of the retuned 3.4 litre XK engine, which was now good for 190 horsepower. In all only 1,965 were assembled for export in Fixed Head Coupe specification; making the model highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts looking to participate in a vintage rally or tour event.

The stunning 1956 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe featured here is finished in the highly sought after, factory correct color combination of all Black over a Grey leather interior. According to the accompanying Jaguar Heritage Certificate this particular example was completed at the Coventry works on October 28th 1955 and was originally distributed through Jaguar Cars of New York. More recently the XK140 has been subjected to a meticulous restoration with incredible attention to detail. The XK DOHC inline-6 cylinder performs wonderfully, while upgraded front disc brakes have been fitted from a later model Jaguar. The XK140 is offered with a Nardi wood rimmed steering wheel, but it still accompanied by the original style Jaguar piece should the future caretaker decide to retain the stock specification. A recent service has been performed and this XK140 is not exceptionally well sorted and would be an ideal candidate for a vintage rally or tour.
