Description

- The most desirable series of the E-type Series I
- A truly motoring icon
- Most people will agree if we say that the Coupé (or FHC) version of the E-Type Series 1 is one of the most beautiful automotive designs ever made
- It’s 55 years later now, and the E-Type is a styling icon and exposed in several important museums as a piece of art
- Superb driving and slightly modified to fit taller persons
- Accompanied by its Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate

There have been volumes written about the Jaguar E-Type, indeed there is no other British car, apart from perhaps the Mini, that has generated such a cult following.

Introduced in May 1961, the Jaguar E-type 3.8 Fixedhead Coupe was a sensation with classic good looks and performance unrivaled at the price. Often heralded as the most beautiful car of all time, Jaguar, not surprisingly, made no significant changes until the introduction of the 4.2 engined E-type in October 1964.

Upon its launch in 1961, the car was described by Enzo Ferrari as: “The most beautiful car ever made.”

The E-type is an absolute icon but amongst the beautiful lines it’s also 1 of the best driving classic cars. The car is very fast and handles absolutely superb. Everybody can drive an E-type. It is simple until the gas paddle is really pushed down. Then it becomes a race car which has to be treated correctly.

ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC EXAMPLE

This Jaguar E-type is impressively nice. The car is finished in the great colour combination of Opalescent Silver Grey with a black leather interior. This colour suits an E-Type very well, and shows the stunning lines perfectly.

It is a truly professionally restored example which has been restored with attention to original details.

The car is newly delivered in the United States, in the dry part of the States, in California.
Therefore this example hasn’t faced it’s biggest fear, rust.

The Jaguar was sold to England as a rustfree and extremely sound restoration project, it was bought later by J.D. Classics.

The quality of the restoration is from a very high level, and this E-Type runs as well as it looks.

The powerful 4,2 Litre straight six engine produces a glorious sound, and the full synchronized gearbox is a pleasure to use.

A Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Certificate verifies the 1E chassis number, marking it as a desirable Series 1 4.2-liter E-Type.

The E-Type was repainted in the then owner’s preferred Jaguar Opalescent Silver Grey, the interior being re-trimmed in black leather at the same time.

We think is the greatest colour combination. This colour suits an E-Type very well, and shows the stunning lines perfectly.

In January 2016 the E-Type went from England to its former owner from Knokke-Heist in Belgium .

CONDITION EXTERIOR

The exterior of the Jaguar is in a very nice cosmetic condition. It is clearly visible that a lot of time and money has been spend on this car.

The paintwork of the car has been done to high standards. The body of the car is very nice and very straight displaying perfect fits and gaps.

The chrome is impressive nice as well.

The lights and glasses are all in a very nice condition.

The wheels are brand new and wonderful shining.

The front window is in a nice condition without signs of use/pitting.

CONDITION INTERIOR

The interior is genuinely very beautiful.
The headlining and carpet are all new even as the leather on the seats.

Inside the cabin everything is clean, neat and tidy. The upholstery is in excellent condition all round, as is the dash, steering wheel, instruments and controls.

The Black leather combines beautifully with the Grey exterior color.

According to us, the E-type Series I interior is one of the nicest interiors ever made by Jaguar, and much more desirable then the later Series 2 and 3 examples.

ENGINE BAY

The engine and engine bay look excellent, very clean without big signs of age or use.
The 4.2-litre is considered by many enthusiasts as the most desirable engine.

DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The Jaguar E-Type is arguably one of the greatest sports car ever built. The body styling is simply gorgeous and technologically the E-Type was an engineering masterpiece and it set new standards in all areas.

Although the convertible offers special pleasure thanks to its open top, aesthetically the coupe is unbeatable, and remains one of the best looking coupes of all times since its launch in 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show.

Altogether an absolute fantastic appearance due to the high quality of restoration but also a fantastic driving example .

We think that today, any Jaguar E-type is something special – a car that can be enjoyed at club events or rallies, concours or just as a weekend driver – and one that will continue to prove a sound investment over time.
