Here is a last-year of the first series T-Bird, built on August 12th, 1957 in Dearborn, Michigan. This lifelong California car was uncovered in recent years from a San Francisco garage at the home of its long-term owner where it had been in protected storage since 1984. The car remains exceptionally original throughout, retaining largely original paint, trim, glass and upholstery. See paint depth readings.
In addition, the Thunderbird is equipped with numerous desirable options and accessories, including a Ford-O-Matic transmission, power brakes, power windows, backup lights, windshield washers, heater, chrome engine "dress-up kit," radio, full-wheel hubcaps and wide white-walled tires.
Fitted with removeable port hole / opera window hardtop only – No soft top.
The remains in exceptionally original and preserved condition throughout. Take note of the factory applied stampings on the doors and engine bay, excellent panel fitment, and an absolutely solid and corrosion-free chassis and undercarriage. Pans, sills, seams and corners – Among the most exceptionally intact and preserved examples we have ever witnessed.
Upon arriving at our facility an attempt was made to start the car after its long slumber. While showing positive signs, it was discovered that the right-side bank of engine valves are stuck closed. At a minimum, the heads will require a rebuild, in addition to the brakes, rubbers, and other consumables prior to any extensive road use.
Known as the purest original form of an American Icon, this Thunderbird will make a great addition to any stable or a fitting entry level and very useable classic.
