"Introduced for the 1992 model year, the 512 TR was the replacement for the iconic Testarossa. The new models title was a return to the use of characters, hence ‘5’ for the engine size and ‘12’ for its number of cylinders. The ‘TR ‘was an abbreviation of Testarossa. The main visible differences were in the nose, tail and wheels, with a louvred design on the engine lid. The interior of the 512 also received an update with changes to the seats, steering wheel and trim. The engine was more powerful than its predecessor and its gearbox is described as more positive and satisfying to use.
