Description

Launched at the Earls Court Motor Show in October 1962, the MGB is a two-seater sports car manufactured and marketed by the British Motor Corporation (BMC), later British Leyland. The MGB brought MG’s sports cars into the modern day, with its attractive slab-sided roadster body. Remaining in production until 1980 the MGB was Britain’s most successful sports car. The B utilised a monocoque chassis instead of the traditional body-on-frame construction used on both the MGA, MG T-Types and the MGB’s rival, the Triumph TR series. Powered by British Leyland’s 95bhp B-Series engine the MGB offered spritely performance. The MGB also proved itself in the motorsport arena, successfully competing in events such as the Mote Carlo Rally, Spa 1000, Targa Florio and quickly became a favourite of many club racer.

The MGB ‘FIA Appendix K’ Race Car offered here at Autostorico is a 1965 registered car, finished in MG Tartan Red with contrasting White roof and Black interior trim. Purchased by its current owner a well-respected classic car engineer and historic racer, this fresh built ex. Clubsport race car has undergone a no expense spared nut and bolt restoration. Work started with a heritage shell with the early narrow tunnel, with attention then passing to its mechanical restoration. The engine being entrusted to marque experts Skiptune in Surrey, who fully re-built with Omega + 60 pistons and race cam, which when fitted with its 45 DCOE Webber Carburettor produces circa 120bhp. Other notable works included overhauling the suspension system, rear axle, brakes and gearbox including fitting a new AP clutch. An LCB exhaust is fitted along with an FIA approved foam filled alloy fuel tank, FIA roll cage and battery isolator. New wheels and tyres along with Harnesses (in date) and fire extinguisher complete this stunning car.

This is a perfect opportunity to own an un-raced, freshly built MGB ready for the season ahead at a fraction of the cost required to build it to the correct specification.
