The Ford GT

The ‘new generation’ Ford GT was developed by Ford’s Special Vehicle Team Engineering department under the direction of John Coletti and Fred Goodnow. The composite body panels were unstressed, as on the original, but instead of the monocoque chassis construction used in the 1960s, SVT Engineering developed an all-new aluminium space-frame combining extruded sections and panels. Doubling as fuel reservoirs, a pair of massive sills contributed much to the original’s chassis stiffness, whereas the new GT relied on a central-tunnel ‘backbone’ that greatly improved ease of entry and exit. The suspension design was an advance on the original’s, consisting of unequal-length control arms and a push-rod / bell-crank system acting on horizontally mounted coil spring/damper units. Braking was handled by six-piston, Alcon calipers with cross-drilled and ventilated discs all round. This fabulous machine is powered by an all-aluminum, supercharged 550-hp, 5.4-liter DOHC V-8 coupled to a six-speed manual transmission.

This motorcar

The Ford GT we are offering here is chassis 1FAFP90S06Y400653 and is one of just 541 cars produced in Tungsten Grey out of 4,038 cars produced between 2005 and 2006. This rare color was originally developed by Ford for the 2005 Detroit Auto Show. The hue was created to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Ford’s first win at Le Mans. Due to the high demand for the color, Ford added the hue to their color palette in 2006. Imported from the US to Europe when new, 1FAFP90S06Y400653 was first registered in the Netherlands on September 6, 2006 by its first owner who kept the car virtually brand new during nearly 10 years. It subsequently sold to the second owner in the UK on January 4th, 2015. Just a little mileage was put on the car ever since. Offered in ‘as new’ condition with all accessories, documents, books and showing a staggering 440 original miles, this example is believed to be one of the lowest mileage Ford GT in existence. It would represent a significant addition to any low mileage motorcar collection.

European registered.
