Description

Comfortable and elegant Pininfarina-designed Grand Tourer. One of only 505 producedThe 340 bhp, 4.4-litre V12 with sixtwin-choke Webers provides impressive performanceSupplied new by Modern Classic Motors in Reno finished in a striking dark grey metallicSpecified new in left-hand-drive with air-con, power windows and an MPH speedometerImported into the UK by Joe Macari in 2014 and immediately subjected to a Concours-standard restorationThe history file contains a Massini Report (ownership history) and importantly, Ferrari's official Classiche "Certificazione di Autenticita"Exhibited at the 2016 London Classic Car Show where it was purchased by our vendor, Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay to join his eclectic private collectionProperly stored and maintained, on the button, ready to go and realistically guidedThe 365 GTC/4 was first introduced at the Geneva show in 1971 and shared its chassisand engine block with the bigger Daytona 365 GTB/4. Despite riding on the same platform, and thus sharing the same wheelbase and suspension, the car was aimed at being a more comfortable grand tourer and so softer spring rates and hydraulic power steering came as standard. Styled by Pininfarina and built with a steel body and aluminium doors, the very graceful lines of the body could be achieved because the 4.4-litre V12 engine ran sixtwin-chokeWeber carburettors, rather than injection, allowing a lower profile and more sloping bonnet. The car gave 340BHP and benefitted from near-perfect weight distribution of 51:49 thanks to the 5-speed gearbox and alloy bell housing being set well back in the chassis. Just 505 cars were ever produced making this a highly collectable and rare example of the marque. This particular left-hand drive car, chassis 15623, was specified new with air conditioning, power windows and a speedometer in miles-per-hourand was supplied by Modern Classic Motors in Reno, Nevada. The history file containsa Massini report which documents the cars ownership history from new and the car also carries Ferrari's official Classiche "Certificazione di Autenticita" which confirms it retains its original enginefrom new.Imported to the UK by noted official Ferrari service and restoration centre, Joe Macari, in 2014,it was then restored by them toConcours condition and, on completion, exhibited at the 2016 London Classic Car Show at Excel as an example of their very best work. Suitably impressed by the outstanding standard of restoration achieved, it was purchased by our vendor, rock legend and Jamiroquai frontman, Jay Kay, for 375,000and became a part of his amazing and eclectic private collection. Since then it has enjoyed occasional use and, like all his cars, havingbeen properly stored and maintainedis today on the button and ready to go.Recently Silverstone Auctions MD, Nick Whale, drove the car and had this to say afterwards:"My prior thoughtsof the 365 GTC/4 were modest given the amazing reputation of the Daytona. However, when Jay threwme the keys with a glint in his eye my hopes were raised, rightly as it happens, and this car turned out to be the best driving Ferrari built in the 1970's that I have ever experienced. It has refinement in terms of both ride and noise levels, way beyond any reasonable expectations and furthermore, it has performance and handling to match. The engine just purrs at tick over and from there it delivers amazing quantities of both torque and power in a smooth and quietly progressive manner. In short, it's a real drivers car that you could cover serious miles in with no concerns about comfort and reliability. I absolutely love it!"Offered at an amazingly realistic guide today, this car offers a serious Ferrari collector a very specialopportunity.
