Description

Furlonger are delighted to offer this European-supplied Porsche Carrera GT finished in the rare combination of Sand White over Black Leather interior, complete with exceptional Porsche Reading history.

The Carrera GT's development can be traced back to the 911 GT1 and LMP1-98 racing cars, however at the heart of its development was the engine. Initially, the car was going to hold a turbocharged six-cylinder engine but was then redesigned to use a new V10. This was secretly built by Porsche for the Footwork Formula 1 Team in 1992 but later shelved, until it was used for the Le Mans prototype and increased to a 5.7L from a 5.5L. The 5.5L engine did not go to waste however, it was placed within the CGT concept car at the Geneva Motor Show in 2000.

As years went by with prototypes and further development, the production of the Carrera GT started in 2004, with the first car being sold in the United States in January. The CGT had a carbon fibre monocoque and sub frame, dry-sump lubrication and inboard suspension. The car’s front and rear suspension consists of pushrod actuated shock absorbers and dampers with anti-roll bars. The car was also equipped with Porsche's latest brake system, a carbon fibre reinforced silicon carbide(C/SIC) ceramic composite brake system. At the heart of the GT was its formidable V10 engine which produced over 600 bhp and was mated to a 6-speed manual transmission, allowing the car to reach 60 mph in just 3.5 seconds.

This particular Carrera GT was delivered new to Germany in April 2004 before coming to the UK very early in its life. Unlike many examples, this CGT is complete with the most comprehensive maintenance history, with the vast majority being carried out by the experts at Porsche Reading. The latest maintenance was carried out by Porsche Reading in May 2019 with the car covering just 10 miles since the work was completed.
