Description
The 1750 GT Veloce ranks high among the many variants of the 105-series Alfa GT. With the 122 BHP 1750 engine it took a step up the ladder among small GT cars of the 1960'es. The 1750 also marks the most significant facelift in the life of the model, when the original "stepnose" body received the smooth front. Often a facelift did not do the original design any good, but it's hard to argue that this is the case with the 1750.
Except for the lightweight and prohibitively expensive GTA, the 1750 series 1 version is probably the most sought after version of all the Bertone GTs. It has some very distinctive details only found on this car. The series 1 is easily recognized on the front turn lights that are fitted on top of the stainless steel bumper and not on the body as on all other models. The interior is also special with the front seat with integrated head rest on the passenger side.
1 year ago a "ground up" restoration on this car was completed. It was taken apart to empty body, stripped for paint and bead blasted the entire shell. A few areas needed body work with new original parts and then it received a professional paintjob to a very high standard with several layers of primer, sealer, sound deadening material and top coat in the classic Alfa Rosso 501. Interior was completely redone in black leather to original patterns and new carpets inside and in trunk all made to measure by a professional upholsterer.
Suspension, steering and brakes are all new parts. Engine was completely rebuilt with new bearings, pistons and liners, new timing gear, water pump, cylinder head with new valves, valve guides etc. Gearbox was also rebuilt with new synchros, seals etc. New OEM Sachs clutch is fitted as is propshaft with new donut coupling, central support bearing and universal joints.
The car has for last year been with one very enthusiastic owner who meticulously has sorted out all the final details and the fine tuning and adjustments that always follows a complete restoration. The car drives absolutely wonderful with every small detail in place and fully functioning.
