- 3rd hand with a clear history
- Meticulous maintenance
- Careful presentation

The Citroën SM alone represents the dream of an era when automotive elegance and high performance went hand in hand. Let us not forget that in the early 1970s, speed limits did not exist on the French road network. The SM was born at a time when speed was a selling point and gasoline was cheap. Unveiled at the 1970 Geneva Motor Show, this French-style "Super Car" is a success with a line designed by Robert Opron. It is ahead of its time both in terms of technology and its futuristic line. Citroën bought Maserati in 1968, which is why an impressive 2670 cc V6 with twin camshafts is found under the hood. A true technological showcase of what Citroën knew how to do best at the time, we find the revolutionary DIRAVI steering, power brakes, hydropneumatic suspension, swivel headlights with wheels...etc Over five years of production, only 12,920 units will be sold. As we know, the SM will be very expensive for the herringbone brand and will not sell very easily, as it is subject to a high selling price and demanding maintenance.
The model presented here in its pretty silver-green 1972 colour chart livery is in conformity with its factory shipment in 1972, and is equipped with many options such as the black leather interior, tinted windows, air conditioning and the Edison Continental radio. Purchased new by a doctor in Montceau-les-Mines, it remained in his possession until its purchase in 2008 by a collector in the Paris region. The latter in turn keeps it for about ten years, before selling it in 2017 to its current owner. This car has undergone first-class mechanical and bodywork restoration. Many invoices for the purchase of spare parts from the SM Club de France but also from other specialists such as Jean Blondeau attest to the serious attention paid to this car. It also went through the Daunat workshops, SM specialist in Crespière. Note that its original air conditioning compressor has been replaced by a Sandem compressor that is disengageable, reliable and safe for the SM's mechanics. Thus, the car perfectly airconditions the engine without tiring it by the jolts of the compressor. All the history of the mechanical interventions made on this SM has been carefully noted on an excel spreadsheet, demonstrating the meticulousness of the car's mechanical tracking. The same goes for the bodywork, which has been painted with a new, very good level of paint. The wheels are fitted with Michelin XWX tires that conform to the original SM mount and are in good condition. The stainless steel exhaust is in perfect condition, and finally, the hydraulics work perfectly. It is a reliable car that only needs to be driven.

This car will be sold by auction by AGUTTES Auction House, in La Ferté-Vidame, at the Citroën Centenary, France, on July the 21th, 2019.
